Very Fine Pair of Colt Third Model "Thuer" Derringers with the Desirable Von Oppen Marking and Rare Factory Picture Box -A) Colt Third Model "Thuer" Derringer Very Fine Pair of Colt Third Model "Thuer" Derringers with the Desirable Von Oppen Marking and Rare Factory Picture Box -A) Colt Third Model "Thuer" Derringer These derringers were introduced in 1870, produced until 1912, and totaled around 48,000 manufactured. This particular pair appears to have made its way to Great Britain during its period of use given their British proofs and the highly desirable "C" and Rampant Colt "illegal"/"unauthorized" Von Oppen retailer markings. The top of the barrels have the standard "COLT" in large italic letters and the bottom of the barrel has small British proofs. The matching serial number is on the bottom of the barrels and the left of the grip frames, while the "B" gun also has the matching serial number marked inside both grip panels in pencil. The grips on the "A" gun are unnumbered. They both have a German silver blade front sight and are fitted with smooth walnut grips. Includes a very rare factory picture box that contains the pair and has an additional label on the lid stating "The within revolver is not adapted for smokeless powder."

The grips are excellent with only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with some of the lid edges absent, some repairs, and moderate wear.
