PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, AND RELATED EARTHENWARE / REDWARE TEAPOTS, LOT OF TWO, comprising a Thomas Haig attributed double-ogee-form example with flared foot and rim, extruded triple-ridge strap handle, and beaded design on rim, shoulder, and lower body; and a similar example having molded-rib spout and strap handle with medial ridge. Each retaining its original cover with a punched vent hole. First attributed to Thomas Haig's Pottery, Philadelphia, PA. Circa 1830. 6 3/8" HOA.

Catalogue Note: A nearly identical teapot is in the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art (Accession #1892-80a,b), acquired by Edwin Atlee Barber in the late 19th century and attributed to Thomas Haig's Pottery (1812 - c. 1893).

  • Condition:

    Haig example having an elliptical crack to the underside that extends slightly above the foot with whitish residue to surface, spout with chip to end, cover with some scattered chips and flakes to edge and flange; remaining example having some mostly minor flakes to rim, end of spout, and foot edge, chip to foot, cover having chip to underside rim edge.
