A late twentieth-century Linden quartz mantel clock, manufactured in Japan and housed in a substantial molded architectural glass case with gilt-tone accents. The arched case features a textured, geometric Art Deco-inspired design framing a skeletonized dial that reveals the decorative gear train beneath. The white chapter ring is marked with black Roman numerals surrounding the exposed gilt movement, complemented by ornate black hands and a polished pendulum bearing a decorative monogram motif. The lower dial is signed "LINDEN" and "QUARTZ," while the reverse is marked "Japan" and retains the impressed model designation No. 4RP699. Combining contemporary quartz accuracy with the visual appeal of a traditional skeleton clock, this striking timepiece serves as both a functional clock and an attractive decorative accent. Its substantial molded glass construction and transparent design make it an appealing addition to modern, Art Deco, or postmodern interiors.

  • Provenance: Private Collection.
  • Literature: No published reference located for model No. 4RP699. Comparable Linden Japanese quartz skeleton mantel clocks were produced during the late twentieth century.
  • Circa: Late 20th century, circa 1980s–1990s.
  • Condition: Overall very good vintage condition. The molded glass case is free of apparent cracks or major chips, with light surface wear and minor scratches consistent with age and handling. Gilt-tone elements remain bright. The dial, hands, and decorative movement present well. Functionality has not been tested; the clock is offered in as-found condition and may require a fresh battery and/or adjustment.
