A pair of sterling silver fish forks manufactured by the Whiting Manufacturing Company in the Louis XV pattern, which was patented in 1891. The handles feature an ornate Rococo Revival design with scrolled edges, foliate accents, and a prominent shell motif at the terminal. One fork features a gold-washed vermeil finish on the tines, a decorative element often found on Victorian-era pastry or ice cream forks. One fork terminal is engraved with a stylized, interlaced script monogram of the letter M. The reverse of each handle is stamped with the Whiting hallmark of a lion holding a shield, accompanied by the word STERLING and the patent date PAT. 1891.
