JOHANN BAPTIST HOMANN (GERMAN, 1664-1724) MAP OF THE AMERICAS, hand-colored engraving on laid paper, titled "Totius Americae Septentrionalis et Meridionalis Novissima Repraesentatio" in Rococo-style cartouche flanked by Native American figures at lower sight edge. Housed in a modern frame. Circa 1742. 19 3/4" x 22 1/2" sight, 26 1/4" x 32 1/4" OA.

  • Provenance:

    From the collection of Peggy and the late Scott Ballin, Staunton, VA.

  • Condition:

    Good overall visual condition with minor even toning and small areas of discoloration. Repaired arcing tear at lower edge which extends through one of the figures and into the cartouche. Other minor creases. Not examined out of frame.
