Rare Smith & Wesson Model 19-3 Double Action Revolver with Factory Optical Sight, Roy Jinks Letter, and Box The included factory letter confirms that this revolver was shipped from the factory on May 10th, 1976, and delivered to Conner & Lohr of Minneapolis, MN, as a special sample built for them, the factory's Midwest sales reps. The revolver was equipped with an optical sight "designed by a Michigan optometrist" and was sent to test the sale potential of a revolver with an optical sight. This revolver appears to be (by the grip grain and visible wear points) pictured in the Model 19 section of Supica and Nahas' "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson", where they also state that this is one of "several made on a test basis". The revolver features a standard ramp front sight, serrated trigger, checkered hammer, and goncalo alves target grips with silver S&W medallions. Includes a copy of a letter recapping this revolver's appearance at the March 1994 meeting of the Washington Arms Collectors Smith & Wesson collector's group, and describing the revolver. Also included is the original box with end label marked "G374 w/optical/sight" marked in the Special Features section as well as a set of factory cleaning tools.

Manufacturer: Smith & Wesson

Model: 19-3

BBL: 4 inch solid rib

Gauge: 357 Magnum

Finish: blue

Grips: goncalo alves

Serial Number7K22611

Class: Curio & Relic Handgun

  • Condition: Very fine overall, retaining 95% of the original blue finish, some light wear mainly at the muzzle, a light cylinder drag line, and sharp checkering on the slightly ill-fitting grips. Mechanically excellent. The optical sight is clear with cock-eyed reticle. The box is very good with some wear. This is a fantastic opportunity to own a little-known, but extremely rare S&W absent from even the most advanced collections!
