An elegant antique Alaskan gold nugget bar brooch featuring a striking navette-shaped polished agate centerpiece framed by a richly textured border of natural placer gold nuggets. Measuring approximately 4 inches in length, the elongated design reflects the refined aesthetic popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods while showcasing the natural beauty of Alaska's famed goldfields. The brooch is centered by a polished oval-navette agate exhibiting warm caramel, honey, and chocolate brown banding beneath a lustrous finish. Surrounding the stone is an applied border of genuine Alaskan gold nuggets, creating an organic texture that contrasts beautifully with the smooth gemstone. The reverse retains its original pin assembly and is stamped "1/20 12K GF," indicating a quality 12-karat gold-filled construction over a base metal core. Jewelry incorporating Alaskan placer gold became especially popular following the great northern gold rushes of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Gold nugget jewelry from Alaska was frequently crafted as fine souvenir and presentation pieces, celebrating the rugged natural beauty and mineral wealth of the territory. Long navette brooches such as this were fashionable accessories worn on dresses, lapels, collars, and hats, prized for both their elegant proportions and distinctive materials. Combining natural Alaskan gold with an attractive polished agate, this brooch represents a handsome example of early American souvenir jewelry and remains an appealing addition to collections of antique jewelry, Western Americana, Gold Rush memorabilia, or Alaskan decorative arts.

  • Circa: Circa 1900–1935
  • Condition: Very good antique condition. The gold-filled mounting exhibits light age-related wear and a pleasing patina consistent with age. The agate appears free of significant chips or cracks under normal visual inspection. The reverse pin mechanism remains present and appears intact. Stamped "1/20 12K GF." Sold as photographed.
