A distinctive Art Deco countertop soap dispenser featuring a spherical frosted glass reservoir housed within a polished chrome-plated swing frame on a stepped circular base. The dispenser is fitted with a domed chrome pump assembly and retains its striking machine-age aesthetic, characteristic of the Streamline Moderne period. The hand-blown glass reservoir exhibits an attractive graduated frosted finish with controlled bubble inclusions, transitioning to a subtle aquamarine tint toward the lower portion. The vessel is suspended within a pivoting chrome frame, allowing the reservoir to be removed for filling and cleaning. The substantial stepped base and clean geometric lines exemplify the functional elegance of Art Deco design. Originally intended for use in a bathroom or powder room, this handsome dispenser remains an appealing decorative object, equally suitable for display in a period interior or alongside a collection of Art Deco accessories. Its sculptural form and combination of chrome and textured glass make it a fine example of early twentieth-century utilitarian design.

  • Provenance: Private Collection.
  • Literature: Comparable chrome-plated and frosted glass bathroom accessories were produced during the Art Deco and Streamline Moderne period by numerous American and European manufacturers, including Manning-Bowman, Chase Brass & Copper Co., and other makers of luxury bath accessories.
  • Circa: 1930s–1940s.
  • Condition: Overall good vintage condition. Glass reservoir appears free from cracks or repairs, with light surface wear and minor scratches consistent with age and use. Chrome-plated metal frame and pump exhibit light oxidation, scattered scratches, and minor spotting. Residue and mineral deposits are present beneath the chrome collar and within the reservoir from prior use. Pump mechanism has not been tested for functionality and is offered as found.
