A fine example of American art pottery produced by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. This earthenware vase is executed in the Moderne pattern, introduced in 1936, which represents the company's embrace of the Art Deco aesthetic. The vessel features a slender cylindrical body flanked by two elongated, angular handles and is supported by a flared circular foot. The piece is finished in a matte dusty rose glaze with terracotta-colored highlights accentuating the relief-molded vertical bands and stylized floral motifs. The underside of the base is marked with the raised Roseville script signature and shape number 802-12. A partial original silver foil label remains affixed near the rim.
