An elegant collection of five hand-cut lead crystal serving and decorative pieces, showcasing the exceptional brilliance and craftsmanship associated with traditional European crystal production. The grouping includes a variety of forms, featuring an impressive scalloped centerpiece bowl bearing its original "Genuine Lead Crystal – Handcut – Made in West Germany" label, alongside four complementary dishes in richly faceted and engraved patterns. The collection displays a remarkable variety of classic cut crystal motifs including hobstars, crosshatching, fan cuts, floral engraving, diamond point cutting, and deeply scalloped rims. One bowl is raised on three integral feet, another features an elaborate petal-form rim, while two smaller handled dishes provide attractive serving or display options. The combination of wheel-cut decoration and high lead content produces exceptional light refraction and sparkling clarity. The labeled West German bowl represents the high standard of post-war European crystal manufacture. During the mid-20th century, West Germany became renowned for producing luxurious hand-cut lead crystal, utilizing traditional techniques that emphasized precision cutting, heavy crystal blanks, and intricate geometric ornamentation comparable to celebrated Bohemian and Bavarian traditions. An attractive and versatile collection suitable for entertaining, display cabinets, or as additions to collections of fine European crystal. The varied forms allow the pieces to be displayed together as an elegant centerpiece grouping or used individually throughout the home.

  • Literature: Comparable examples of hand-cut lead crystal can be found in reference works covering post-war German and Bohemian crystal production, including publications on Nachtmann, Bleikristall, and Bavarian glass manufacturers. The "Made in West Germany" label places the marked centerpiece bowl prior to German reunification (pre-1990).
  • Circa: Mid to Late 20th Century, circa 1960s–1980s.
  • Condition: Overall very good vintage condition. The West German centerpiece bowl retains its original factory foil label. Light shelf wear consistent with age and use. One small handled dish exhibits minor staining or discoloration visible in photographs. The pieces should be examined in person for any minute edge nicks or manufacturing irregularities typical of vintage hand-cut crystal.
