'HARLEM HELL FIGHTERS' 369TH INFANTRY MEDAL GROUPING (9)
Good lot of nine medals, etc. once proudly owned by an unknown member of the 369th Infantry, commonly called the "Harlem Hell Fighters' who fought in the Second Battle of the Marne and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. The black regiment received 171 individual citations for bravery and a unit Croix de Guerre. Included in the lot are five '100% DUTY' pins, 2.5 x 1.5 in., four in bronze and one sterling, four marked by makers Dieges & Clust and Gleaqson-Wallace. Each denotes one or more years of service without absence, in this case for the years 1928, 1930, 1931, 1932, and the silver badge representing five years. Also present are two large faithful service orders, each 2 x 2 in. and with neck ribbon, one honoring ten years of service and numbered '7210' on verso, the second for 15 years and numbered '3485'. One each of these medals was made by one of the aforementioned makers. Also included is a cast bronze automobile grille plaque bearing the Seal of New York State and reading 'NYNG 269TH INF' with crossed rifles at center, 5.75 x 9 in. overall. All are in very good condition.
