Scarce Factory Engraved Parker Brothers GHE Grade Double Barrel Shotgun Two Barrel Set with Single Trigger and Case Manufactured in 1940 during the Remington era as one of only 808 total built in this combination of gauge, barrel length, and grade according to page 279 of "The Parker Story" by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote, which also states that only some 67% of total production had ejectors. The gun has dual white bead sights on the matted vent rib, Remington date code on the flats, and chambers marked 2 3/4 inches with ejectors. The barrels are fitted to the casehardened size "1 1/2" action which features GH pattern engraving consisting of oval game bird scenes on the left, right, and underside along with "PARKER", all encompassed by highly attractive scrollwork. The trigger guard/lower tang is inlaid "ALEXIA WASLEFF" in gold and is numbered "241443" on the back side. The gun features a single selective trigger and tang mounted manual safety. The gun is fitted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered beavertail forend with lightly engraved case colored iron and release as well as a straight grip stock with Monte Carlo comb and a Pachmayr rubber recoil pad. Includes a second matching numbered 28 inch barrel set with its own beavertail forend and chokes marked modified/full as well as a wood and leather flat case with "ALEXIA WASLEFF" in the brass plaque on the lid. Alexia Wasleff is noted in period newspapers as a "Chicago industrialist" and "prominent sportsman", taking annual hunting trips to Cut Bank, MT, around the time this gun was made. Barrel measurements for the extra set (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .731/.731 inches; choke constriction .015/.032 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.031 inches. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .735/.734 inches; choke constriction .008/.007 inches; minimum wall thickness .027/.029 inches; 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 1 11/16 inch drop at heel; 14 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 11 oz.
