Early/mid-20th century, Tohono O'odham; Southwest United States
Five coiled baskets comprising a small basketry tray woven by Amelia Ramon, with radiating hooked motifs in a 'turtle back' design (1.5" H x 9" Dia.), a large basketry tray with stylized animal motifs (1.75" H x 12.25" Dia.), a high-sided tray with floating stepped motifs (2.25" H x 11.5" Dia.),
a polychrome oval tray with checkerboard stepped motifs (1.75" H x 11.5" W x 9" D), and a polychrome lidded basketry jar with floating geometric motifs (4" H x 6" Dia.)

  • Notes:
    The turtle-back tray with attached tag "Papago Indian Handicraft From Kitt Peak Arizona", indicating the weaver.
  • Condition: Each overall good condition with dust accumulation, slight fading, and shelf wear commensurate with age and use. The high-sided tray with multiple stitch losses to center of interior base. The lidded jar with rubbed wear/shredding to finial and to lid edge.

Shipping

Shipping. As a courtesy to buyers, Moran provides a list of preferred shippers who are in the business of transporting antiques and works of art. Buyers are responsible for arranging their own shipping estimates and deliveries. Moran, in its sole discretion and as a courtesy to buyers, may arrange to have purchased lots packed, insured, and forwarded by a third-party shipper at the request, expense, and risk of the buyer. In circumstances where Moran arranges for such third-party services, Moran may apply an administration charge of 15% of that service fee. Moran assumes no responsibility for acts or omissions in such packing or shipping by other packers or carriers, even if recommended by Moran. Moran also assumes no responsibility for any damage to picture frames or to the glass therein.
