Documented Los Angeles, California, Shipped Serial Number "349000" Colt First Generation Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter This is a fine example of a Prohibition era 1926 production Colt First Generation Single Action Army revolver bearing the serial number "349000". The accompanying factory letter states this revolver was shipped on June 18, 1926, to Union Hardware & Metal Company in Los Angeles, California, in .45 caliber with a 5 1/2 inch barrel, blue finish, and hard rubber grips as part of two guns of the same type in the shipment. Single Action Army revolvers in fairly standard configuration like this one were more often than not seen as working guns and worn regularly as a holstered sidearm well into the 20th century, leaving few examples in nicer condition available to collectors. The top of the barrel is marked with the one-line Colt Hartford address and the "45 COLT" caliber marking is on the left. The left of the frame is marked with the two-line patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The left of the trigger guard is marked "3" over a triangle "VP" proof. The matching visible full serial number "349000" is marked on the frame and right side of the grip straps, matching "00" is on the rear of the cylinder, non-matching numbers are hand etched on the interiors of both grips, and assembly number "620" is marked on the loading gate and rear of the frame.
