An authentic California public safety porcelain enamel sign prohibiting smoking and tobacco litter within 25 feet of children's play areas. Produced for installation in public parks, the sign features the familiar red "No Smoking" symbol alongside references to California Health and Safety Code Section 104495, a $250 fine for violations, and the state's smoking cessation helpline. Executed in durable porcelain enamel over steel with rounded corners and factory mounting holes, the sign was designed for long-term outdoor municipal use. Decades of environmental exposure have imparted a well-developed patina, surface wear, scattered impact marks, and oxidation that enhance its authentic industrial character. Government-issued porcelain signs have become increasingly desirable among collectors of transportation, municipal, industrial, and Americana memorabilia, valued for their bold graphics, durable construction, and genuine field use.
