Very Fine Cased Colt Model 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolver with Ivory Grip The Colt Model 1849 Pocket was Samuel Colt's most popular percussion revolver design and the company's most popular revolver in the 19th century. Over 325,000 were manufactured compared to around 192,000 Single Action Army's manufactured by 1900. These handy revolvers generally show signs of having been popular with their owners as well, and relatively few were simply tucked away. This '49 Pocket was manufactured in 1860 just prior to the outbreak of the Civil War and remains in very fine condition. This revolver appears to have rarely left its case since it left the factory. It has a brass cone front sight, the two-line "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT/HARTFORD, CT." marking on top of the scarce 5 inch barrel, "2" on the left side of the barrel lug, the stagecoach hold-up scene on the five-shot cylinder, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame, "B" and "G" on the left side of the trigger guard, and matching partial or full serial numbers on the arbor pin, wedge, loading lever, barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap. The fitted hardwood case has a pocket powder flask with the Great Seal of the U.S. themed design on both sides, a cartridge pack, "31 PKT" and "COLT'S/PATENT" marked bullet mold, L-shaped combination tool, Hicks cap tin, and several balls.
