This hand-enhanced print is after the 1886 Symbolist painting titled Hope by George Frederic Watts. The composition features a blindfolded female figure wearing a diaphanous blue robe, seated upon a globe and leaning toward a lyre with one remaining string. The work is presented in a decorative, rectangular gilded frame with an ornate, repeating floral and foliate relief pattern. Affixed to the reverse is a sheet containing handwritten text and a poem. The inscription identifies the work as Hope, Painting by Geo. F. Watts 1817, followed by the name Hope Shelley and the text of the poem.
