Indcludes: The Ladies' Flower-Garden Of Ornamental Annuals. London William Smith, 113, Fleet Street. MDCCCXL. First Edition. Quarto. 48 coloured engraved plates by Day & Haghe Lith[ographers] to the Queen. Contemporary full blue leather binding, with gilt ruled ornate borders on the covers. Spine with 4 thick raised bands each with tooled decorations, and 3 spine panels with ornamental gilt decorations. 2 spine panels with applied red leather labels. Covers with tooled and gilt edges and gilt inner dentelles. Yellow endsheets. All edges gilt. The illustrations all appear to be spotless and vibrant. Only the slightest wear evident to the binding, the worst is to the raised bands, and is easily restorable. Front and back fly leaves with foxing. Near Fine for it's age.    The Ladies' Flower-Garden Of Ornamental Bulbous Plants. London William Smith, 113, Fleet Street. MDCCCXLI. First Edition. Quarto. 58 coloured engraved plates by Day & Haghe Lith[ographers] to the Queen. Rebound in 3/4 tan leather with gilt ruled vine decorations on covers and spine. Grey cloth covers. New marbled end papers. Front and back hinges reinforced with buckram and linen tape. All edges marbled. Bookplate to front pastedown. Apparently lacks the half title. There is occaisonal foxing to 12 plates, and a few are close cropped but the images are not affected. Light foxing and mild age darkening to pages. A solid VG condition. Scarce.     The Ladies' Flower-Garden of Ornamental Perennials. Second Edition. London: William S. Orr and Co. [1849]. Quarto. 90 hand colored lithographic plates. Bibnding is 3/4 red morocco over marbled boards with single line gilt rules, spine with 5 raised bands, gilt rules and spine lettering. New end papers. All edges with original marbling. All the plates are clean and vibrant. A dazzling copy.    Botany For Ladies;...By Mrs. Loudon...London: John Murray...MDCCCXLII [1842].  8vo. 496 pp. includes catalog of Mrs. Loudon's works at end. Illustrated with woodcuts in the text. Rebound in 3/4 leather wiith marbled boards. Spine with 5 raised, gilt ruled bands, gilt lettering and a leather spine label. New endsheets. Tight and sound, in near fine condition.    The Amateur Gardener's Calendar...By Mrs. Loudon...Revised and edited by W. Robinson, F.L.S. With numerous illustrations. Londobn: Frederick Warne and Co. 1870. 8vo. 380 pp. includes ads at back. With a half title and a frontis. Numerous illustrations in-text. Small owner's bookplate pasted to recto of frontis. Rebound in 3/4 leather with marbled boards. Spine with 5 raised, gilt ruled bands, gilt lettering, and a leather spine label. (Identical binding to "Botany For Ladies"). New endsheets. Tight, sound, in near fine condition.    The Ladies' Companion to The Flower Garden...By Mrs. Loudon. Third Edition. With Considerable Additions and Corrections. London: William Smith, 113, Fleet Street. MDCCCXLIV [1844]. Colored frontis. Numerous in-text woodcut illustrations. 346 pp with a 14 pp catalog at the end. Endpapers have been strengthened. 8vo. Green cloth bound with embossed covers. Gilt lettering to front cover and spine. Spine is sun faded to light brown. Light wear and fading to spine ends and cover edges. Some light spotting, but still in very good condition. All edges gilt.    Instructions In Gardening For Ladies...By Mrs. Loudon...Eighth Edition, Carefully Revised and Enlarged. London:John Murray...1851. 8vo. 343 pp, with 32 pp catalog at the end. Frontis, and numerous illustrations in the text. Owner's bookplate on verso of front free endsheet. Ink inscription on recto of frontis. Original green cloth binding with embossed borders on covers. Gilt decoration on front cover and gilt lettering to spine. Spine slightly sun faded. Wear and chips to spine tips. Light spots to covers, but overall in very good condition.

Arrangement and costs of shipping are the responsibility of the buyer. New England Auctions does not ship or arrange shipping. All shipping is outsourced. All buyers and shippers must come prepared with appropriate packing materials and help for heavy items. New England Auctions will not wrap or box any item going out of our facility. Our staff will not be available to help move heavy items. If payment is made by check, items will be held up to seven business days before an item is released for shipping.

Items can be picked up in person or by a shipper at 14 Business Park Drive - Unit 5, Branford, CT - BY CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please contact the gallery 24 hours in advance to make an appointment. Pickup can be scheduled for Monday through Friday between 10am and 3pm beginning the Monday after the date of the auction. Please note that all first-time buyers that wish to pick items up in person must pay with cash.
