An attractive and diverse collection of eight vintage porcelain teacup and saucer sets showcasing a wide range of decorative styles and European and Asian ceramic traditions dating from the late nineteenth through the mid-twentieth century. The grouping offers an appealing assortment of demitasse and tea-sized cups, each with distinctive hand-painted, transfer-decorated, or molded ornamentation. Highlights include a richly decorated Bavarian porcelain cabinet cup and saucer finished in deep magenta with elaborate gilt borders framing an eighteenth-century courting scene, a classic example of finely decorated German export porcelain. Also included are Nippon porcelain examples featuring delicate floral decoration and hand-applied gilt accents, reflecting Japan's celebrated export wares produced during the Meiji and Taishō periods. The collection further includes an elegant blue-bordered floral porcelain cup and saucer, a charming children's transferware cup and saucer decorated with playful figures, molded white porcelain cups with rope-form handles, and several Continental porcelain demitasse services adorned with hand-painted blossoms and gilt embellishments. Together they represent the wide variety of decorative tea wares produced for domestic use and cabinet display during the first half of the twentieth century. Displaying a pleasing variety of forms, colors, and decorative techniques, this collection offers an excellent opportunity for collectors of vintage porcelain, decorative tablewares, or mixed cabinet displays. The assortment also lends itself well to decorative interiors, holiday table settings, or continued collecting.

  • Literature: The collection includes examples of German Bavarian porcelain, Japanese Nippon export wares, and Continental European decorative porcelains representative of the flourishing international market for finely decorated cabinet china during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These pieces illustrate the popularity of hand-painted floral decoration, transfer scenes, molded forms, and richly gilded finishes intended for both everyday refinement and display.
  • Circa: Circa 1895–1955.
  • Condition: Overall good vintage condition with age-related wear consistent with use and display. Several pieces exhibit rubbing to gilt decoration and minor surface wear. One pink demitasse cup has a visible crack extending from the rim. One floral cup displays interior staining and discoloration. Light firing imperfections and manufacturing variations are present throughout. No other significant damage observed in the photographed pieces. All photographs should be considered part of the condition report.
