BALDWIN GARDINER COIN SILVER THREE-PIECE TEA SET
Philadelphia, Early 19th Century
A teapot, height 10", a covered sugar bowl, height 8.75", and a cream pitcher, height 7.5". Borders of scrolling foliage and flower heads. Covers with bud finials.

    The Estate of Dr. William E. Strole, Jr. of Boston.

    Notes:
    Baldwin Gardiner (1791-1869) was the younger brother of silversmith Sidney Gardiner, of Fletcher & Gardiner. Baldwin worked for Fletcher & Gardiner at their retail location in Philadelphia until 1815, when he opened his own store. He was in partnership with his brother-in-law for a short time before moving to New York and becoming a household furnishings retailer. His career as a silver manufacturer and retailer ended when he moved to California in 1848.
  • Dimensions: Approx. 63.2 troy oz.
  • Condition: Two letter script monograms, minor surface wear, underside of teapot spout has a small dent, no other obvious damages.
