A trio of historical artifacts consisting of two nineteenth-century Ohio legal manuscripts and a World War I-era textile souvenir. The first item is a handwritten real estate deed from Ashtabula County, Ohio, dated August 31, 1853. This document records the sale of land in Austinburg township from Lester and Hannah Dady to Charles Stevens for the sum of fifty dollars. The deed is signed by grantors Lester Dady and Hannah Dady, witness Simeon Clark, and J.A. Giddings in his capacity as Probate Judge. The second item is a partially printed legal protest from Mount Pleasant, Ohio, dated September 10, 1819. Issued by Notary Public James Judkins, the document protests an unpaid promissory note for one hundred dollars. The original note, transcribed at the bottom, is dated July 9, 1819, and signed by Lewis Walker on behalf of Henry Baldwin. The third item is a World War I souvenir silk sweetheart handkerchief. The central printed design features an embracing soldier and woman within a heart-shaped border, accompanied by the title Love and Remembrance and a four-line sentimental poem. The handkerchief is finished with a border of printed American flags. All items are housed in modern clear plastic archival sleeves.
