An attractive early 20th century blue glass seltzer bottle fitted with its original metal syphon head, engraved "M. WEINTRAUB" and "M. WEINTRAUB B'KLYN," denoting the Brooklyn, New York bottler. The bottle is executed in vibrant aqua-blue glass with a cylindrical body and rounded shoulders, retaining an embossed maker's advertisement reading "M. WEINTRAUB" within an oval reserve, surrounded by "BROOKLYN" and additional lettering associated with the original distributor. The bottle retains its original metal dispensing mechanism with thumb lever and curved spout, a hallmark of early carbonated water and soda service. Seltzer bottles such as this were widely used by bottlers, soda manufacturers, and delicatessens during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with embossed examples bearing local distributors proving especially desirable among collectors of advertising, New York memorabilia, and antique glass. Displaying a pleasing blue coloration and authentic period patina, this example is an excellent addition to a collection of antique soda bottles, barware, or early advertising memorabilia.

  • Provenance: Private Collection
  • Literature: Comparable examples are illustrated in references on American soda bottles and syphon bottles, including regional studies of New York bottlers and antique beverage containers.
  • Circa: Early 20th Century, circa 1910–1930.
  • Condition: Overall very good antique condition. The blue glass bottle presents well with scattered surface scratches, interior residue, and light wear consistent with age and use. The original metal syphon head exhibits oxidation, surface wear, and age-related patina. The collar shows an old split at the seam, visible in photographs, but remains mounted securely. The dispensing mechanism has not been tested for functionality and is offered as a decorative collectible. Embossed lettering remains visible though softened by age.
