  • Provenance: German lapidary artist and jeweler Manfred Wild (b. 1944) is the eighth member of his family to practice the lapidary craft, continuing a tradition that dates back to 1630. After studying art and commerce, he went into business with his wife, Ute, the granddaughter of the owner of the renowned lapidary workshop Emil Becker, which the couple still runs today. Wild first gained recognition for creating highly detailed reproductions of famous works before producing his own original designs. Sometimes called the “Fabergé of the 21st century,” Wild is best known for his intricate miniature animal sculptures carved from precious and semi-precious gemstones. His work is held in collections all over the world, including the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., the Harvard Museum in Boston, and the Iksan Jewelry Museum in Korea.
  • Condition: Overall Condition: Light scratching throughout consistent with age and use. Small nick to coral.
