THOMAS MANN RANDOLPH (1768-1828) SIGNED 1820 NICHOLAS CO., (NOW WEST) VIRGINIA LAND GRANT DOCUMENT, printed and manuscript on paper, granting 50 acres of land in Nicholas Co., Virginia to Henry Morris, dated November 9, 1819. Signed by Governor Thomas Mann Randolph, Jr. and dated August 17, 1820, with full papered seal applied to lower left corner. Professionally matted. Dated 1819 and 1820. 11 1/2" x 14 1/2" object, 22" x 28" OA.
Catalogue Note: (1) Thomas M. Randolph Jr. was the 21st Governor of Virginia (1819-1822) and was the son-in-law of Thomas and Martha Jefferson, married to their daughter Martha. (2) Nicholas Co. was one of the fifty counties that seceded from the state of Virginia and joined the Union as West Virginia on June 20, 1863.

  • Condition:

    Paper is in excellent condition with three horizontal folds and one vertical center fold. Minimal discoloration and staining mainly around the fold lines.
