A commemorative stoneware award platter manufactured by Frankoma Pottery for the Klamath Dog Fanciers Inc. of Klamath Falls, Oregon. The large oval platter features a beige and tan speckled glaze with a darker brown rim. The face of the platter is decorated with black ink illustrations, including a central motif of a pelican on a post and the organization logo. The text on the front identifies it as a First Place award for the Herding Group, dated September 1, 1984. The border is illustrated with sketches of various herding dog breeds, including the German Shepherd, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Collie, and Shetland Sheepdog. The reverse is impressed with the maker mark FRANKOMA and the letters TP. A small manufacturer label is present for Animals By Popowitz of Burnsville, Minnesota. A handwritten post-it note adhered to the back provides provenance, stating the item was purchased from the Raymond Firestone estate on February 12, 1995. The platter includes a wire hanging loop for wall display.
