Wallace Reid Wible Sr, (Texas, Penna,1926-2016) and at right Corporal Ira Hamilton Hayes (Gila River Indian Community, Arizona, 1923-1955), Hayes, having participated in the second raising of the American flag at Iwo Jima on Feb. 23, 1945., an event made famous by the Joe Rosenthal, Associated Press iconic photograph, Hayes had recently returned from a War Bond Drive in in the U.S to the 5th Division's occupation of Japan, Ira Hayes is buried at Arlington Nation Cemetery about 1/2 mile from the U.S. Marine Corps Memorial where Hayes is depicted as one of the Iwo Jima flag raisers; (1) WII map, Sasebo, Japan, 1944, Second Edition, "For Use By War and Navy Department Agencies Only, Not for Sale of Distribution", further marked in ink ""February 19, 1945-D Day" (Marine invasion of Iwo Jima), folds and some tears, approx. 22"h, 19"w; (1) Book: "The Spearhead, 5th Marine Division", Howard M. Connor, Infantry Journal Press, 1950, 325 pages, detailing this Marine Corps Division from training to the taking of Iwo Jima, a large number of photographs with several color plates, maps, many combat photos including surrenders, pillbox battles, flamethrowers, howitzer and mortar teams, post Iwo Jima pictures of occupied areas of Japan, the book also lists the many U.S. soldiers killed in action, died of wounds, and wounded in action, along with the awards that included 14 Medals of Honor, Ira Hayes name is listed at the 28th roster page 263, book approx. 11.25" x 8.75" x 1"; (1) Booklet, "Spearhead, Member, Fifth Marine Division Association, November 19, 1991, a list of names and addresses for member who served at Iwo Jima and in Vietnam, booklet approx. 9" x 6", .25", for shipping of all items, approx. 3.65lbs **Provenance: Estate of Wallace R.
