A charming and decorative Chinese Export famille rose porcelain bachelor's tea service, comprising a cylindrical teapot with cover, a handled teacup and matching saucer, two covered tea caddies, and two tea bowls, each finely hand-painted in the traditional famille rose palette with alternating figural courtyard scenes, flowering peonies, songbirds, butterflies, and auspicious floral cartouches. The teapot is of elegant cylindrical form with a gently curved spout, fitted cover, and overhead swing handle mounts, richly ornamented with elaborate scrolling borders framing reserves depicting scholars and attendants within architectural interiors alongside vibrant floral and bird compositions. The accompanying tea bowls, cup, saucer, and covered tea caddies continue the decorative program, featuring finely executed scenes of courtly figures in conversation amidst gardens and pavilions, interspersed with lush floral sprays and symbolic birds associated with prosperity and harmony. Executed in the Cantonese famille rose tradition, this service reflects the highly decorative export wares produced for both domestic and Western markets during the late Qing dynasty. The vivid enamel palette of rose pinks, emerald greens, iron reds, blues, and gilt accents exemplifies the exuberant aesthetic that made Canton enamels among the most sought-after Chinese porcelains of the nineteenth century. The underside bears an overglaze iron-red "CHINA" mark, indicating production for export during the late Qing or early twentieth century. Complete bachelor's tea services of this type, retaining multiple matching components, remain highly desirable for collectors of Chinese export porcelain and decorators alike. An attractive and colorful ensemble displaying exceptionally well, equally suited for display within a collection of Asian decorative arts or as an elegant cabinet grouping.

  • Circa: Late Qing Dynasty, Guangxu period or later, circa 1890–1920.
  • Condition: Overall good decorative condition consistent with age and use. The teapot retains its original lid but is fitted with a later replacement cord handle. Light glaze wear, firing imperfections, and scattered areas of enamel loss are present throughout. The handled cup exhibits noticeable enamel loss to one of the standing figures. One tea bowl shows a small rim chip. Minor rubbing to the enamels and rim wear throughout. No other significant damage observed from the photographs, though a full hands-on examination is recommended.
