Cal. 6.5MM BRM (Bench Rest Magnum). S# 01050011. Bbl. 24" heavy sporter barrel fitted with Weaver style base attached by 6 screws for extreme security. Mfg. initially as a pistol that dominated the silhouette sport in 2001 winning most major matches. General info puts production from about 1977 to 2015. Small, simple action of modular design that has unique push forward on trigger safety. Its caliber is based on the renowned 219 Donaldson Wasp case that is lengthened and opened to 6.5MM, hence the "Magnum" designation in its name. Loaded ammo is available through E. A. Brown Co. or cases can be formed and reloaded. Although of top quality and design, it was not a top seller as the Contender at lesser price and higher popularity was the main single shot seller. Original MSRP was about $1,700 with prices drastically reduced when its production was ended about 10 years ago (info direct from E. A. Brown). One review stated a .31" group at 100 yards with this caliber. Performance is just shy of 6.5X55 Swede with 2,400 to 2,500 FPS using a 140 gr. bullet. E. A. Brown Co. is well known for its top quality barrels. Characteristic of this rifle is its muzzle crown; barrels are fully blued before crown is cut at 11 degrees so the unfinished crown area almost looks like the barrel is sleeved. Barrel markings are nicely laser engraved as is its exotic hardwood grip cap. Satin finished pistol grip stock has straight comb and raised cheekpiece plus black Pachmayr solid Decelerator recoil pad with basket weave face pattern. Stylish matching forend is long and thin with schnable tip; secured to barrel with 2 screws. Matte finished Swift Premier 2-7X40 W.A. scope with 1" tube and duplex reticle. Scope rings are alloy constructed with Allen head screws (4 per ring) and styled similar to Weaver Quad 4 rings. CONDITION: a few very light marks on buttstock with balance near excellent including bore and scope set. PROVENANCE: Estate of Groves Herrick. (25-5737/NW). MODERN. $650-900.
