Scarce and Desirable U.S. Marine Corps Decommissioned Colt M45A1 Semi-Automatic Close Quarter Battle Pistol with Box and Factory Certificate Developed beginning in 2010 as the result of a request from the U.S. Marine Corps for a new .45 ACP pistol, Colt's M45A1 Close Quarter Battle (CQB) pistol represents an improved 21st century continuation of the legendary John Moses Browning designed Colt Model 1911 and 1911A1 pistols that served American in the hands of the Marine Corps throughout the majority of the 20th century and into the 21st century from the muddy trenches of Europe to the tropical islands of the Pacific. Even after the adoption of the Beretta M9 in 1985, M1911A1 pistols continued on in the hands of special forces and other specialized units including those of the Marine Corps well into the Global War on Terror; a testament to the ruggedness of this American handgun. However, the Marine Corps inventory of rebuilt MEU(SOC) Model 1911 pistols were showing their age, leading to the development of Colt's improved M45A1 CQB pistol. The design is a railed dust cover version of Colt's XSE line of Model 1911 pattern pistols and was adopted by the U.S. Marine Corps on July 20, 2012. Roughly 4,000 of these Colt M45A1 pistols were initially delivered with a "COLT***USMC" roll-mark on the left side of the slide and Desert Tan Cerakote finish on the stainless steel slide and frame. The slide marking and finish were subsequently changed in 2014 to "COLT***M45A1" and Colt Decobond (a proprietary flat dark earth ion bond finish) on the roughly 8,000 remaining pistols of the contract. A very limited amount of the earlier batch of pistols such as this specimen were decommissioned and had an "X" engraved through the "USMC" slide marking before being sold to the commercial market. This pistol features Trijicon tritium lamped Novak three-dot blade front and notch rear sights, a "-COLT 45 AUTO N.M.-" marked stainless steel barrel, wide slanted serrations at the front and rear of the slide with the aforementioned crossed out "USMC" marking on the left side and "COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL" designation roll-marked on the right side, the Colt address, serial number, UID, and "U.S." marking on the right side of the frame; an integral four-slot Picatinny rail on the dust cover, Colt factory triangle "VP" proof and "L" on the left of the trigger guard, and "X" on the right of the trigger guard. It is fitted with a long solid trigger, skeletonized hammer, an up-swept beavertail grip safety with palm swell, Colt Tactical ambidextrous thumb safeties, a flat serrated stainless steel mainspring housing with lanyard loop, a pair of desert camouflage checkered G10 composite grips, and a Wilson Combat black metal magazine. Includes the original Colt Defense LLC shipping box with a matching numbered label (another dated "07/13"), an extra Wilson Combat magazine, and a Colt factory certificate stating the features of the pistol and its former use by the U.S. Marine Corps..
