Asia, Siberia & North America, Southeastern United States, Pleistocene Epoch, ca. 40,000 to 10,000 years ago. Two specimens from iconic Ice Age megafauna, each presented in a labeled display case. A substantial tuft of woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) hair recovered from Siberian permafrost, retaining its characteristic reddish-brown color - a direct tactile connection to one of the most celebrated creatures of the Pleistocene. Accompanying it is a polished molar cross-section from the Hawthorne Formation of the southeastern United States, almost certainly attributable to the Columbian mammoth (Mammuthus columbi), its distinctive enamel plate pattern preserved in striking relief against the mineralized matrix. Size of tooth: 2.25" W x 1.5" H (5.7 cm W x 3.8 cm H);

Provenance: private Colorado, USA collection
