Catalogue note: Saint Joseph's Academy and Free School was an historical Catholic school for girls in Emmitsburg, Maryland, founded by Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and the Sisters of Charity in 1809. It was the first free parochial school for girls in the United States and operated from 1809 to 1973.

  • Condition: The work is in stable condition.
    There is minimal inpaint visible under uv black light.
    There is a tear with paint loss in the upper part of the painting in the sky.
    There are two blemishes to the right of the painting and one to the left (see jpeg images)
