Theodorus Bailey (1758-1828) served in the New York militia during the American Revolution, and the New York state militia from 1786-1805, attaining the rank of brigadier general. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1793, serving in the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th Congresses. In 1803 he was elected to the Senate, serving until 1804, when he resigned to become Postmaster of New York City, a position he held until his death.
This lot is located in Philadelphia.
