This lot comprises several late 19th and mid-20th-century cloth-bound volumes. Featured works include: G. A. Henty, In the Heart of the Rockies, Charles Scribner's Sons, 1894; Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book, The Century Co., featuring the author's swastika mark on the interior; Ellery Queen (Editor), 101 Years' Entertainment: The Great Detective Stories, 1841-1941, Little, Brown and Company, 1942; John Bunyan, The Pilgrim's Progress, Porter & Coates; George Herbert Palmer (Translator), The Odyssey of Homer, Revised Edition, Houghton Mifflin Company; and Edwin J. Houston, The Boy Geologist, Howard E. Altemus, 1907. The volumes are primarily octavo-sized and bound in publisher's cloth with varying levels of decorative stamping, from plain brown and green to the pictorial red cloth of the Henty title. The Kipling volume contains an internal stamp with a left-facing swastika above a facsimile of Kipling's signature, a mark used by the author as a symbol of good luck prior to its subsequent political associations.
