GULF WAR BRING-BACKS, EQUIPMENT AND SOUVENIRS
A large box lot featuring a wide variety of U.S. military equipment and souvenirs related to Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield, as well as items captured from Iraqi forces during the First Gulf War. Notable articles include: a crudely bound volume of mimeograph documents in Arabic, approx. 60pp. folio, all retained copies of orders and directives related to the Iraqi 17th Armored Division, 70th Airborne Brigade, the majority signed by officers of the unit and dated 1990, immediately before and during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. The cover depicts the insignia of the Iraqi armored forces, and the volume's covers oddly utilize Christmas wrapping paper; a Children's photograph album containing three pairs of Soviet officer's shoulder boards, six pairs of collar tabs, and four ribbon bars, several bearing insignia related to tank forces, believed to have originated from Soviet advisors to Iraqi forces during the Iran-Iraq War; a Chinese ten-pocket bandolier for use with the Type 56 SKS rifle; a Soviet-era splinter-pattern camouflage hood; a booklet of unused Iraqi Army leave permission forms; and more. U.S. equipment includes: two desert-camouflage ‘boonie' hats, one example featuring embroidered decorations identifying it to a ‘Jacoby' of the 477th Medical Company (Ground Ambulance) and commemorating his service during Operation Desert Storm; an M-12 holster for the M92 service pistol, manufactured by Bianchi; a green plastic box magazine for the M249 SAW machine gun, fitted with a green fabric cover and containing a belt of spent 5.56mm casings; and additional accouterments including helmet bands, field dressings, an M16 cleaning kit, a field decontamination kit, manuals for the M16 rifle and M60 machine gun, a guide to Iraqi and other Middle Eastern vehicles and insignia, and more. The collection is rounded out by: a cased Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Liberation of Kuwait medal; a framed photo commemorating the launch of Operation Desert Storm on February 24, 1991, showing anti-aircraft fire in the night sky over Riyadh; and a variety of civilian-produced items in support of U.S. troops, including bumper stickers, posters, a beer coozie, trading cards and more. Approx. 35 pieces total, should be seen.
