Interesting Millichamp's Patent Self Acting 16 Gauge Pinfire Field Clock Gun Patented by Englishmen William Maund and Charles Millichamp on May 3, 1888, and produced c. 1890s, "field clock" or alarm guns like this device were intended to be used by farmers, gardeners, and grounds keepers to scare away pest animals. Housed on a hardwood base with a folding tin cover, it features a rotating eight-shot 16 gauge pin-fire cylinder for use with blank cartridges, ignited through the use of a spring loaded and pendulum driven timer mechanism with an attached hammer. The timer mechanism allowed for set intervals of 15 minutes to every 1 and a half hours, or could be set to fire a single shot at a chosen time. Includes two iron base mounting bars.
