World War II U.S. Inland Mfg. Div. M1A1 Semi-Automatic Paratrooper Carbine Manufactured in 1943, from the first production block (serial number range 101 to 999,000) manufactured by the Inland Manufacturing Division of General Motors from May 1942 to December 1943, and also within the known serial number range (approximately 65,000 to 4,950,000) of the first production run of M1A1 paratrooper carbines, totaling roughly 70,000 manufactured from late October 1942 to December 1943. Features winged blade front and "S" marked dual flip peep rear sights, a "7-43" dated Inland barrel, un-marked type 1 barrel band, "S'G'" marked type 2 operating rod, "S'G'" blued flat top bolt, along with an Inland milled trigger housing with a "EI" type 3 magazine catch, type 3 push-button safety, "HI" type 2 dog-leg hammer, and "RI" marked sear. Fitted with an "I-WB" marked two-rivet walnut handguard and a first series high-wood walnut paratrooper stock, marked "IO" on the interior under the grip with a folding wire stock and steel riveted leather cheek rest. Includes a web sling and metal oiler. Magazine absent.   • Condition: Fine, retaining 60% original parkerized and 50% original blue finishes with some smooth brown and grey patina on the balance, some repetitive peen marks on the front portion of the barrel, an absent front sight retaining pin, light wear, and clear markings. The re-oiled stock is fine with attractive original raised grain and crisp stamps. Mechanically excellent.
