Wedgwood transfer-printed creamware plates features architectural scenes from Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. The plates are part of the Williamsburg Restoration series, first issued in 1950, and feature engravings based on drawings by artist Samuel Chamberlain. One plate depicts The Quarter, described as a small, whitewashed building that served as a slave quarter, while the other depicts The Governor's Palace, the mansion completed circa 1720. Each central scene is contained within a circular reserve and framed by a decorative border. The scalloped rims are decorated with four botanical sprays and two cartouches containing architectural and heraldic motifs. The reverse of each plate bears extensive printed marks, including the circular Wedgwood of Etruria and Barlaston Made in England stamp, the title of the scene with a descriptive historical paragraph, and the attribution Engraved from Drawings by Samuel Chamberlain for Williamsburg Restoration Incorporated. A specific circular mark identifies these as First Edition 1950. A small circular collector mark for the Rubin Collection is present on the upper right of the reverse, and an incised letter P is located on the base of each. These items are associated with the WW and Rubin Coll provenance.

Dimensions: 10" dia.
