A pair of solid sterling silver spoons produced by the Whiting Manufacturing Company in the Louis XV pattern, originally patented in 1891. The handles feature a Rococo Revival aesthetic with ornate scrolled borders and a stylized shell motif at the terminal. One spoon is engraved at the terminal with an interlocking script monogram reading JMR, while the other spoon is unmonogrammed. On the reverse of the handle near the bowl, the spoons are stamped with the Whiting Manufacturing Company maker mark consisting of a griffin within a circular border. Additional marks include the word STERLING in block letters and the patent designation PAT. 91.
