Excellent and Rare Factory Nick Kusmit Master Engraved and Gold Inlaid Winchester .410 Bore Model 21 Grand American Double Barrel Shotgun with Kusmit Letter and Case Manufactured after 1960 during the custom shop era as one of just five .410 bore guns recorded as made during that era from 1960-1982 due to strict control of production by John Olin himself according to page 335 of Ned Schwing's "Winchester's Finest: The Model 21". The gun was built with blued Winchester Proof Steel barrels with a single nickeled steel bead sight on the matted concave solid rib, 3 inch wedges of floral scroll engraving at either breech, jewelled flats, chokes marked "MOD"/"FULL", and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a blued action which displays the beautiful Grand American pattern engraving consisting of near full coverage floral scrollwork surrounding four gold inlaid game scenes. The left side shows a birdie dog in a field scene, the right has a pointer in a field scene, the underside shows a pair of pheasant cocks in a field scene, and a bust of a dog on the trigger guard all rendered in fine detail. The engraving bears a tiny "NK" signature beneath the pheasant cocks for famed Winchester Master Engraver Nick Kusmit. The gun features a gold single selective trigger, jeweled watertable with lightening cuts, and tang mounted manual safety with gold inlaid "SAFE" indicator. The gun is fitted with a highly attractive well-figured and fancy 21-B pattern fleur-de-lis checkered and carved beavertail forend with ebony tip inlay and matching engraved blued iron and rotary latch release as well as a pistol grip stock with engraved blued steel grip cap and a checkered butt. Includes a Winchester canvas and leather flat case containing a pair of brass snap caps, an oil bottle, an oiler, and two cans of Winchester "New Gun Oil". Also included is a notarized letter from Mr. Kusmit affirming that he in fact performed this fine engraving. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .417/.416 inches; choke constriction .010/.019 inches; 1 5/16 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 7/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 6 oz.
