This is an exceptional reference lot for the early talking machine enthusiast, featuring six specialized titles that trace the evolution of recorded sound technology. From a collector's perspective, the star of this group is a signed, inscribed 1927 first edition of The Romance of the Gramophone by T. Lindsay Buick, published by Ernest Dawson Ltd. in Wellington, New Zealand, complete with the iconic "His Master's Voice" Nipper illustration. Accompanying it is an early 1892 copyright copy of A Practical Guide to the Use of the Edison Phonograph by James L. Andem for the United States Phonograph Co. of Newark, NJ, a 1971 Allen Koenigsberg facsimile edition of The Phonograph and How to Use It, a red comb-bound edition of The Patent History of the Phonograph 1877-1912, a 1977 University Microfilms dissertation print titled The Making and Use of Recordings in Broadcasting Before 1936 by Michael Jay Biel, and the 1989 Dutch publication Spreekmachines by Harry Belle. The collection shows expected age-related wear, including shelf wear to the edges, moderate foxing and toning to the interior pages of the older volumes, minor cover staining, and a crease on the comb-bound cover, but the text blocks remain structurally sound and completely legible. Stacked: H 5", W 11.25", D 9". Please see photos for condition.

CRITICAL: Donley Auctions In-House Shipping costs are not included in your auction invoice. Shipping is handled as a separate transaction through our fulfillment partner, Shipping Saint.

- THE IN-HOUSE SHIPPING PROCESS: Once your auction invoice is settled in full, our shipping department will custom-pack your items. When your package is ready, you will receive a separate shipping invoice via text and email from Shipping Saint containing your tracking number and a secure payment link. (Please Note: Firearm shipments may not include tracking information due to carrier and security regulations.)
- FULFILLMENT TIMELINE: Please allow 2 to 4 weeks from the date your auction invoice is paid for our shipping department to securely pack your items. We handle a high volume of fragile goods, and careful packing takes time.

- INTERNATIONAL RESTRICTIONS: Single items valued over $2,499 cannot be shipped via standard domestic carriers (USPS/FedEx) to international destinations. These must be managed by an international customs broker arranged entirely by the buyer.

LOCAL PICK-UP & STORAGE FEES

- BY APPOINTMENT ONLY: Buyers electing local pickup must contact [email protected] within 24 hours of receiving their invoice to schedule an appointment. You must notify us within this 24-hour window to decline shipping; otherwise, you may be charged for any packing materials and labor already expended on your lots.
- STORAGE DEADLINES: Due to strict warehouse space constraints, all items must be retrieved or shipping arrangements finalized within 5 days of the auction.
- STORAGE PENALTIES: Items left uncollected after 5 days will incur a storage fee of $20 per day, per lot. Items left uncollected after 30 days will be legally deemed abandoned and may be sold or disposed of without notice to recover storage costs.
