Robert Lee Morris (Born 1947) is a celebrated American jewelry designer and sculptor whose work is heavily inspired by organic natural forms and futuristic aesthetics. Raised in a military family across Germany, Japan, and Brazil, he later settled in Vermont where he developed his foundational metalworking skills on a commune. His career surged after being featured on the cover of Vogue in 1976, leading him to open the influential Artwear Gallery in New York to showcase contemporary jewelry. Renowned for his distinct 24-karat matte gold plating and deep copper patinas, his “modern urban warrior” pieces quickly attracted a star-studded clientele including Madonna and Oprah Winfrey. Throughout his career, he frequently collaborated with premier fashion houses, most notably partnering with Donna Karan in 1985 to pair her sleek apparel with his oversized, sculptural jewelry. His monumental contributions to fashion accessories earned him multiple CFDA honors, culminating in the prestigious Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
