AMERICAN COIN SILVER AND OTHER ARTICLES, LOT OF FOUR, comprising a coin silver mug by John C. Moore of New York City, NY (active 1832-1864) and retailed by Lows, Ball & Co. of Boston, MA (1842-1846), having an octagonal well with foliate border around the foot, engraved "GRC" initials to one side, and a double-scroll handle; an unmarked coin silver goblet with engine-turned engraved sides, featuring a reserve that contains an engraving of "EME / from / JWH" within a foliate-accented frame; a silver-plated goblet with engine-turned engraved designs having presentation engraving to one side that reads, "Geo. T. Littlefield / from / the Class of 1866"; and an unidentified, probably silver-plated, box of unknown origin, being egg-shaped and possibly for ceremonial purposes, having malachite-type cabochons on finial of hinged lid and to sides, accented by applied chain and other decoration, raised on three paw feet with winged lion head knees, interior fitted with a hinged gilt domed lid over a small reservoir. Mug impressed to underside with maker's and retailer's marks, both goblets unmarked except silver-plated example with "67" number, box with three impressed marks including "A" to lid possibly being hallmarks or spurious / pseudo and of unknown silver / metal content. Total weight of mug and coin silver goblet: 5.725 ozt. Three pieces mid/third quarter 19th century, box probably later. 3" to 6 1/2" HOA.

  • Condition:

    Mostly in good to very good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, and other imperfections including nicks, dents, and/or worn spots to decoration / silver-plating; coin silver goblet with bending to well causing it to be out of round.
