An elegant French Art Deco micro-beaded evening purse dating to the early twentieth century, showcasing the refined craftsmanship and geometric sophistication that defined luxury accessories of the Art Deco period. Expertly handwoven from thousands of shimmering gold-tone micro beads, the purse features a striking symmetrical geometric motif accented by delicate floral-inspired forms, all framed within a richly engraved gilt brass kiss-lock frame. A matching chain strap allows the purse to be carried gracefully over the shoulder or by hand, while an elaborate beaded fringe enhances its movement and visual appeal. The interior retains its original champagne silk lining with a woven "Made in France" label, confirming its French origin. During the 1910s and 1920s, French beaded handbags were among the most fashionable evening accessories, prized for their meticulous handwork and sold through the finest department stores and boutiques throughout Europe and America. The combination of intricate micro-bead weaving, elegant engraved frame, luxurious silk-lined interior, and dramatic beaded fringe exemplifies the craftsmanship associated with French evening bags of the Belle Époque transitioning into the Art Deco era. An exceptional example of early twentieth-century French fashion, equally suitable for collectors of vintage handbags, Art Deco decorative arts, or period costume accessories.

  • Circa: Circa 1915–1925.
  • Condition: Very good antique condition consistent with age. The micro-beadwork remains largely intact with only minor scattered bead loss and light wear. The gilt brass frame displays an attractive aged patina with minor surface wear. Original silk lining exhibits expected age-related discoloration and light wear. Kiss-lock closure operates properly, and the original chain strap remains intact. Overall an attractive and well-preserved example.
