The Armspear Manufacturing Company was famous for building incredibly robust, heavy steel-guard and wire-bottom lanterns. This piece is likely a Model 1913 or Model 1925. he Lehigh Valley Railroad primarily hauled anthracite coal through Pennsylvania and New York. Lantern has no burner, and the bail is missing. In early railroad signaling, teal (often a deep blue-green or aqua) served a highly specific safety function. It was typically utilized by station agents to order train stops or by car inspectors to mark equipment under repair that must absolutely not be moved. True teal and cobalt blue globes are significantly scarcer than standard clear, red, or amber glass variants. : The "Vulcan" designation refers to Dietz's standard 5-3/8 inch tall globe specification, which fits perfectly inside Armspear's standard tall-globe frameworks.
