    Reference:
Illustrated in American Antiques from Israel Sack Collection: Volume VIII (Washington, D.C: Highland House Publishers, 1988), p. 2231 as a "superior" example. "The compactness and grace of this lowboy exemplifies the mastery of proportion and integration that seems to be unique to the top notch colonial artist - craftsmen. Using the American criteria of form and line as the final arbiter, this lowboy with the shell carved knees must be considered more valuable than those with acanthus carved knees".
