World War II Era Framed Lithograph Print "The American Way" by Norman Rockwell "The American Way" was created by Norman Rockwell in 1944 during World War II. Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) is one of the utmost legendary American painters and illustrators who created over 4,000 original works in his lifetime; notably for the cover illustrations of everyday life he made for "The Saturday Evening Post" magazine for nearly five decades, his rendition of "Rosie the Riveter", and the "Four Freedoms" series. Offered here is a period lithograph print of "The American Way" portraying an American soldier feeding a spoonful from his field rations to a young girl seated on a block of stone, emphasizing the theme of compassion of servicemen during wartime. The soldier is wearing his full combat uniform and helmet, and his iconic Thompson Model 1928A1 submachine gun is laying down next to him. The image is surrounded by a patriotic themed border. It measures 24 3/4 inches by 30 3/4 inches including the frame.
