This lot consists of six fraternal organization items primarily from Northeast Ohio, dating to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The collection represents the Patrons of Husbandry (The Grange), the Knights of Pythias (K. of P.), and the Ancient Order of United Workmen (A.O.U.W.). The collection includes a reversible ribbon badge from Freedom Grange No. 1576 in Freedom, Ohio. The formal side features a tricolor red, white, and blue ribbon with a gold-tone top bar depicting American flags and a celluloid button with the Patrons of Husbandry seal. The reverse side is a black In Memoriam ribbon with silver-stamped symbols including a sickle and sheaf of wheat, finished with gold bullion fringe. A second Grange badge from Streetsboro Grange No. 1572 in Streetsboro, Ohio, features a blue ribbon and a bronze-tone eagle top bar. A manufacturer's label on the reverse identifies it as a product of The Whitehead & Hoag Co. of Newark, New Jersey. The Knights of Pythias is represented by a reversible badge for Diamond Lodge No. 136 in Palmyra, Ohio. The formal side features a blue, yellow, and red ribbon with a gold-tone K.P. top bar and a triangular pendant. The reverse is a black In Memoriam ribbon with a silver-stamped coat of arms. The Ancient Order of United Workmen items comprise three matching medals from Akron Lodge No. 100 in Akron, Ohio. Each features a red ribbon suspended from a silver-tone top bar marked C.H.P. with a circular medal depicting the A.O.U.W. shield. Each badge is distinguished by a different metal emblem on the ribbon: one with crossed quills, one with crossed keys, and one with crossed swords. Materials include silk and rayon ribbons, gold-tone and silver-tone metal components, celluloid, and bullion fringe.
