  • Provenance: Born in Morristown, New Jersey, Helen Woodhull (1940 - 2005) was a skilled and influential jewelry designer. Beginning in 1965 with her boutique, The Leogryph, Woodhull's pieces drew on ancient art, incorporating Latin inscriptions and mythological motifs, and using materials like Chinese jade and ancient intaglios. Recognized by Georg Jensen for her talent, she designed for the retailer from 1968 to 1974. In the 1960s, Woodhull was among only three emerging designers working under their own name, alongside Elsa Peretti at Tiffany & Co. and Aldo Cipullo at Cartier. Throughout the 1970s and onwards, she collaborated with prominent retailers such as Gump’s in San Francisco, CD Peacock in Chicago, and Caldwell’s in Philadelphia, further establishing her distinctive style and reputation in the jewelry world. In 1988, she opened her own atelier on Fifth Avenue in New York City, a space that remained active until her retirement. After her passing in 2005, Woodhull's pieces were sold exclusively at James Robinson, Inc., and several of her designs have since been exhibited in museums, such as the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Cincinnati Art Museum.
  • Condition: Overall Condition: Acid test indicates the omega clips are 14 karat gold. Light scratching and wear consistent with age and use. Garnets measure approximately 11.50 x 11.50 x 4.70 mm.
