Catalogue note: The painting was likely executed by an artist at McLoughlin Brothers (Brooklyn) to be used as the prototype for the board game "Home Base Ball" (1886). The picture depicts a baseball game in progress with the pitcher preparing to pitch and runners on 1st and 2nd bases (2nd base runner is leading off). The location is the first baseball field at Washington Park in Brooklyn, 1884-1890.
