Simkin, Colin (Editor). Currier and Ives' America: A Panorama of the Mid-Nineteenth Century Scene. New York: Crown Publishers, Inc., 1952. This large landscape folio volume features eighty full-color lithographic reproductions of Currier and Ives prints with introduction and commentary by the editor. The work includes various iconic American scenes such as American Homestead Autumn, Clipper Ship Nightingale, American Forest Scene: Maple Sugaring, Castle Garden, New York, Trotting Cracks at the Forge, Ice-Boat Race on the Hudson, The Old Oaken Bucket, and Noahs Ark. The book is quarter-bound in dark gray textured cloth over blue-gray cloth boards with gilt lettering on the spine. It bears the Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 52-10768 and was lithographed in the United States. This copy contains provenance markings from the Berkeley Public Library, including ink stamps on the title page and lower margins of internal pages.
